Hanne-Ruth Thompson received her PH.D. in Bengali at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and her MA in Linguistics at Freiburg University, Germany. She has lived in Bangladesh and is author of Bengali: A Comprehensive Grammar (Rutledge 2010) and the Bengali-English/English-Bengali Dictionary & Phrasebook (Hippocrene 2010). She teaches Bengali at SOAS and resides in England with her husband and three children.
